Terms of Service — Centsei

Last updated: 15 June 2026

By using Centsei ("the app"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. The service

Centsei is a personal expense-tracking app. Core features (recording, reports, budgets, categories, backup, optional encrypted sync) are provided free of charge.

2. Your data is your responsibility

Your data is stored on your own device. You are responsible for keeping backups (the app provides JSON/CSV export). We are not liable for data loss caused by device failure, uninstalling, clearing browser data, or losing your sync code.

3. Receipt scanning & AI

Receipt scanning uses a third-party AI service (Anthropic) to read receipts. Results may be inaccurate or incomplete — always review the extracted amount, date, and category before saving. The free plan includes a limited number of scans per month; you may instead supply your own Anthropic API key for unlimited scans, in which case you are solely responsible for any costs charged by Anthropic to your key.

4. Acceptable use

Do not abuse, overload, reverse-engineer for misuse, or attempt to circumvent the usage limits of the receipt-scanning service. We may rate-limit or block requests to protect the service.

5. No warranty

The app is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. It is a personal-finance tool, not financial, tax, or accounting advice.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or business arising from your use of the app.

7. Changes & availability

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features (including the hosted receipt-scanning and sync services) at any time. We may update these terms; continued use means you accept the changes.

This is a starter template, not legal advice. Before charging for Centsei or distributing it commercially, have a qualified lawyer adapt these terms (governing law, consumer-protection rules, refunds, app-store requirements) for your jurisdiction and business.
